A Long Weekend in Cornwall (5/8)

These pictures were taken during a long weekend break in Devon and Cornwall during March 2003. Little was planned and we stopped at a different B&B each night.

We arrived at Goonhilly in time for the last coach tour of the site.

When we reached the main control centre building our enthusiastic guide explained what function each of the aerials around the site performed.

This lake with fountains is more than an attractive feature, it also provides a reservoir of water in case of heath fires.

The area where we are standing was the original location of the control room in the 1960s when it was important to see the aerials as they moved. This is no longer necessary and the new control room is in the adjacent area.

Finally as we left we took a front view of Arthur. You get some idea of its size with me standing in front of it.
