A Long Weekend in Cornwall (8/8)

These pictures were taken during a long weekend break in Devon and Cornwall during March 2003. Little was planned and we stopped at a different B&B each night.

Next we moved on to the otter sanctuary section. These are North American otters which were very active when we arrived. The European otters in a separate section are mainly nocturnal and we hardly saw them. Sometimes at night otters from the adjacent river climb into the European otters' enclosure looking for food and have to be evicted the following morning because they can't climb out.

Feeding time for the Asian otters. These are quite small otters which can be fed by hand.

The North American otters are much bigger and the way this one was eating a fish you wouldn't want to put your fingers anywhere near!

This is Saffron. Her older mate died recently and since then she has been timid and shy. However they hope to find her a new mate very soon.

Finally feeding time for Saffron. Any leftover food was quickly taken by the local blackbird!

Thank you for looking at my pictures of this short break in Cornwall, I hope you enjoyed them.
