A Week In Central West Ireland (7/7)

These pictures come from our visit to the Irish Midlands and County Clare coast in April 2011.

Tea was lovely, but something must have happened to make me act like Bishop Brennan.

This is Mark, pretending to be Mrs Doyle.

Father Ted first aired in 1995. The series ended with the sudden death of comic genius Dermot Morgan - 'Ted' - in 1998. But the legend lives on. The other actors returned in September 2010 to film a retrospective, also shown on Channel 4 that Boxing Day.

Both of us in front of the house, the dog arrived while we waited for the timer on the camera. We spent Friday evening back at the coast at Lahinch.

Sunset on the promenade at Lahinch: it was a lovely warm evening, and not too packed out by surfers on an Irish bank holiday weekend. Nice meal and nice B&B.

Saturday was our final day, so we had to cross Ireland to reach Dublin airport by afternoon. However we took time to cross from Killaloe in County Clare into Ballina in County Tipperary where we admired the view of Lough Derg, part of the RIver Shannon system.

We stopped off at the Japanese gardens at Tully in County Kildare, 20 miles southwest of Dublin airport, for a very pleasant lunch before our flight.

Hope you enjoyed our photos taken in the central region of west Ireland.
