A friend invited us to stay at his holiday home in Umbria during June 2003.

  

 

 

 

 

 

More ancient monuments, except for me, viewed from the Coliseum.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A view showing deeper into the underground chambers of the Coliseum. Some species were rendered extinct by the Romans' bloodthirsty appetite for killing animals as entertainment. The Coliseum could seat over 70,000 spectators.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Returning to the airport on the final day we stopped off at Pisa where we saw the cathedral and famous leaning tower.
