A Week In New York (5/8)
These pictures were taken during a week staying in Maryland and New York in November 2003.
Here outside Macy's department store is a plaque which explains that Thomas Edison projected the first movie to a paying audience on this site in 1896.
We liked the Art Deco neon sign and the cop car.
In many locations around New York steam can be seen venting from the pavements. About 100 miles of pipes carry steam to customers from the local energy utility Consolidated Edison (ConEd for short).
Fountains outside the Rockefeller Center on Sixth Avenue at 50th Street.
Here I am on the same side of the Sixth Avenue with the famous Radio City music hall behind me. We'd just bought our tickets for the matinee performance.
This is the glorious Art Deco foyer of Radio City music hall, all decked out for Christmas.
