Norway Cruise (4/14)

Here are some of my photographs taken during the cruise on the MS Switzerland (since then renamed the MS Ocean Monarch) from Amsterdam up the coast of Norway to the North Cape during August 2001.

In the past there were many factories at Stavanger packing tinned sardines. Demonstrations of how fish were put in tins still take place at the canning museum.

A traditional method of roofing houses in Norway is to place turf on them. This helped the poor keep their houses relatively warm without expensive building materials.

This is one of many views of fjords which we enjoyed during the holiday. Some of the mountain roads were very steep.
