A Weekend In Dublin (6/7)

These pictures were taken during a long weekend break in Dublin during July 2002.

The walk along the cliff path was fairly gentle but we'd picked very hot day to do it. However we were rewarded with views of rocky cliffs and these attractive heather covered slopes.

The heat brought out an interesting variety of flowers and insect life which gave me the opportunity to try out the macro feature on my camera for close up shots.

As we approached Howth we took a rest. Lambay Island can be seen in the distance.

From Howth harbour we saw a large number of small sailing boats arrive. This is the view out towards Ireland's Eye, a small island just beyond the harbour.

On our final day we visited the old Jameson whiskey distillery. In the entrance is a family tree which shows how Guglielmo Marconi was related to the Jameson family. Apparently his experiments in radio transmission were funded by some of the profits from the distillery.
