Central Italy (1/7)
A friend invited us to stay at his holiday home in Umbria during June 2003.
We flew to the airport at Pisa and drove to the village where we were staying. This is a typical view of the countryside nearby. The hot weather meant the wheat was almost ready for harvest.
Outside the house here are Louis, Glyn and Mark, companions for the week.
Castiglione del Lago was not far away, here is the view of the beautiful lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy, taken from the castle
In neighbouring Tuscany is the ancient town of Montepulciano. This is a view of the rolling hills.
Tuscany is famous for its wine, cheese and truffles and this delicatessen was one of many selling all three.
