Northern Scotland and the Orkneys (2/7)

Here are some of my photographs taken during a visit to the North of Scotland and the Orkneys at the end of August 2000.

This aerial view of the Dounreay site shows the area much more clearly. The site is also the home of the remains of Dounreay Castle, built in the late 16th century.

This is the lighthouse at Dunnet Head, the most northerly point of mainland Britain.

The view from Dunnet head, looking west along the coastline of Caithness.

At John O'Groats we took a day trip across to the Orkney Islands. Here I am waiting for the boat.

This is the Pentland Venture which took us across the Pentland Firth to the Orkney Islands.
