Northern Scotland and the Orkneys (4/7)

Here are some of my photographs taken during a visit to the North of Scotland and the Orkneys at the end of August 2000.

Behind Mark in the distance is Scapa Flow, a natural harbour, where much of the German navy was scuttled after the first world war.

Whilst looking around Stromness for somewhere to eat we were surprised to come across The Khyber Pass.

One of the most important archeological finds on the Orkney Islands is the stone age village of Skara Brae. It has been there just over 5000 years, which means it is older than the Pyramids in Egypt.

Here is Mark standing beside one of the stones at The Ring of Brodgar.

These are the Standing Stones of Stenness located a short ride from the ring of Brodgar.
