Norway Cruise (9/14)

Here are some of my photographs taken during the cruise on the MS Switzerland (since then renamed the MS Ocean Monarch) from Amsterdam up the coast of Norway to the North Cape during August 2001.

Mark and me standing in front of the deepest lake in Europe, 1700 feet deep.

After docking at Trondheim we had to wait over seven hours before being allowed to leave the ship. Afterwards we were told it was because the ship was in quarantine due to the salmonella outbreak on board and we were waiting for the Norwegian health officials to complete their inspection of the ship. We did however have the entertainment of seeing a camera crew filming the ship.

Here is one of the Norwegian health officials giving an interview to the camera crew. Although we called to her from the deck she wouldn't talk to us.

When we were allowed to leave the ship we had about an hour and a half to look around the town centre which was about twenty minutes walk away. The cathedral shown here was very impressive.

When we returned to the ship after our walk around Trondheim we were surprised to see ambulances on the quay side.

They were taking several people to a local hospital.

Back on board ship we had a brief opportunity to capture this rainbow with the camera.

This is Arthur from the Philippines who was our table waiter for most of the cruise.
