A Week in Sardinia (4/7)

These pictures were taken while touring the north half of the island of Sardinia in November 2005.

This was the first time I'd seen oranges growing in natural surroundings.

A view of the Castello della Fava, reputedly where the besieged managed to trick those outside into lifting the siege by feeding beans to passing pigeons. Fava means bean.

This convinced the marauders below that the people inside the castle had enough food to survive easily for months whereas they were actually starving.

Mark found a friend standing underneath the gorgeous purple flowers. This little scamp followed us all around the village and would have jumped in the car, and the plane home, given the chance!

Here I am in Orosei trying a new hair style.

Diana Ross, eat your heart out!

We found this penny farthing bicycle on the way into Orosei.
