Bird Watching in Speyside (4/7)

Here are some of my photographs taken on a bird watching holiday in Scotland near Aviemore with Speyside Wildlife during February 2002.

The trickiest part of the walk was crossing this stream. The agile members of the group used the large stepping stones, the others (including me) walked across the smaller stones on the bed of the stream and got our boots a bit wet.

Photo shot of the whole group.

This is one of my favourite pictures of the holiday with the misty sun in the background.

We saw several Ptarmigan in their winter plumage. They are very well camouflaged against the snow but because of this they feel safe and are less likely to fly away when approached. You can just see one at the centre of this picture, perched on a rock.

Walking back down was much easier than the walk up.
